Corrine Lewis-Coutre
Executive Director
Corinne is an Indigenous woman who is a member of Beaver Lake Cree Nation. She began her career in human services by completing the Community Social Services Program at Portage College in Lac La Biche. Over the next several years, Corinne worked in the areas of addiction counselling and justice in various Indigenous communities and for the Provincial and Federal government. Corinne returned to school and completed her Bachelor of Arts-Justice Services and Master of Arts-Conflict Analysis & Management Degree’s at Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC.
Corinne has been the Executive Director of Wah Pow Healing Lodge since 2024, in Beaver lake, AB.
Corinne believes that when clients are provided with empathy, kindness, tools, and guidance, they can reach their highest potential.
Twyla Metchewais
Executive Assistant
Twyla Metchewais is a proud mother of six with a diploma in Business Administration in Management. She is originally from both Ministikwan Lake Cree Nation and Cold Lake First Nations, and has been residing in Beaver Lake Cree Nation since 2019, where her husband and children are band members. Since 2024, she has served as the Executive Assistant for Wah Pow Healing Lodge, where she is passionate about supporting others, helping the community, and using her education in her position. Twyla is known for her caring nature, positive energy, and ability to bring laughter to those around her.
In her spare time, she enjoys hunting, fishing, playing golf, and spending quality time with her family. She also plans to return to college part-time in the future to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
Virginia Taylor
Program Manager & Intake Coordinator
Virginia Taylor is a member of Beaver Lake Cree Nation. Her passion for helping others is rooted in her own lived experiences. She holds a Diploma in Social Work and currently serves as the Program Manager and Intake Coordinator at Wah Pow Healing Lodge. Her role as Intake Coordinator includes working closely with referral partners and overseeing the admission process for individuals seeking treatment support. As the Program Manager, she collaborates with staff to implement program updates and enhancements that strengthen the quality and effectiveness of our services.
Mira Gladue-Cardinal
Administration Assistant
- Hi, my name is Mira Gladue-Cardinal, and I am the Administrative Assistant at Wah Pow Healing Lodge. I am a proud member of Beaver Lake Cree Nation and have lived in the community my entire life. Growing up here has given me a strong connection to my culture, community, and the people I serve.
I recently completed my Social Work diploma through Portage College, where I developed a passion for helping others and supporting individuals on their healing journeys. My education, combined with my connection to the community, has helped me build strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills that I bring to my role every day.
As the Administrative Assistant, I help support the daily operations of the lodge by assisting staff, maintaining records, coordinating administrative tasks, and helping create a welcoming environment for clients and visitors. I am grateful to be part of a team that is dedicated to healing, wellness, and supporting our community through culturally grounded care.
Rod Tunac
Finance Manager
Rod Tunac serves as the Finance Manager for Wah Pow Healing Lodge, where he is dedicated to supporting the organization through strong financial leadership and accountability. Originally from the Philippines, Rod moved to the Lac La Biche area in 2013 and continues to reside there today. He holds a diploma in Business Finance and brings past experience in banking and investments to his role. Rod is known for his professionalism, reliability, positive attitude, and commitment to helping both the team and organization succeed.
Carol Thompson
Client Coordinator
Carol Thompson is from the Beaver Lake Cree Nation. She has been involved in her culture most of her life, and continues to participate in Traditional Powwows throughout Western Canada. Carol had begun her career in the Health field, working as a CHR in Beaver Lake. She then moved to the educating field and eventually became a Kindergarten teacher for a number of years. Being a social person and her love for teaching, brought her to the Wah Pow Healing Lodge. This is where her grandfather Philip Cardinal would live out his years of teaching as an Elder.
